JakLash Cat are a three piece Chester band, with an Americana / Country Rock influence, who write and perform their own songs.
The line-up consists of Phil "Lash" Blundell on rhythm guitar and vocals, John "Jak" Evans on bass guitar and Steve "Cat" Pyne on lead guitar.
Having been friends for many years and realising that each of them already played guitar, they decided some years ago to form a band. So, after many hours of practice and a lot of busking, they're now looking for opportunities to take on more gigs.
A few years ago, they were featured on Liverpool Football Club’s Sky TV channel, performing one of their original songs “Old Man” at the end of the Thursday night talk show.
In November 2018, they were interviewed on Radio Deeside’s Live@Five programme, which also featured tracks from their forthcoming album "Promises and Vows". It was subsequently released in April 2019 and was reviewed in the July edition of Maverick country music magazine.
In 2020 Chester HMV store agreed to stock the album.
Following the covid lockdown, 2022 was an excellent year for the band with a number of gigs including the Nantwich Jazz and Blues Festival.
The band's second album "Shooting Star" was released in April 2023 and can be heard on Spotify, Soundcloud and Amazon Music. The CD version is available for purchase wherever the band is appearing live.
One of the tracks "When I Look At You" has been played on Alan Harrison's "The Rocking Magpie" country radio show and UK Country Radio is also playing tracks from the album.
Rocking Magpie Radio Show stated that "You’d normally associate quality like this with household names from America/Canada on or about their 4th or 5th album"
Maverick Magazine referred to "the tight knit playing and well written songs". *to see the full reviews of "Shooting Star" go to our Album Reviews page.
